Overview

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc., through its wholly owned operating subsidiary, Hyster-Yale Group, Inc., designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed worldwide primarily under the Hyster and Yale brand names. The Brazilian subsidiary invited MCS-IT and other renowned technology companies to participate in a competition to develop a digital IOT solution to innovate and improve its remote operations. This was a strategic move to meet a management and organizational need for the company.

The Challenge

The key challenge in this type of competition is to fully understand the project and identify the visual, technical, and financial differentiators that will make the difference between winning and losing. That’s why I was called to this challenge. The project brief is straightforward: an offline organizational solution integrated with the company’s equipment. This will give them greater control of machine positions, who moved them and when, and thus speed up the process of logistical handling of equipment with continuous monitoring and historical information.

The Design

Conclusion

I told them the best way to stand out from this competition is to focus on a visual design that is 100% aligned with the brand. A consistent style guide, a clean and intuitive design, and the best usability practices for the application and administrative area are non-negotiable. The creative process began with the wireframe, as Hyster-Yale had a clear vision of the functions in impeccably organized documents. I divided project deliveries into stages and approved them together with MCS-IT. I ensured that they were 100% aligned with the brand, combined with an excellent PowerPoint presentation, investment assessment, and fair deadline. We nailed the most valued differentiators in a large company, and that’s how we conquered this fierce competition. Development continued internally with MCS-IT.
