Overview

MCS-IT is a São Paulo-based software company specializing in financial and educational management platforms, and during the development of their LMS platform, they realized that the information architecture, navigation flow, design and communication were not in line with the product’s purpose. For these reasons, an in-depth evaluation was requested to rediscover the product from a design culture perspective.

The Challenge

MCS-IT’s developers aim to provide an LMS platform solution that offers versatility in learning path creation, accessibility and responsiveness, integrated with an efficient financial management flow for administrators/creators of educational/professional content. The challenge was to rediscover the essence of the product by using design culture to organize primary, secondary and support functions, as well as information architecture, user journey definition, gamification and other functions that add possibilities for expansion and scalability of the project.

Conclusion

On-time project delivery due to the discovery, organization, and design process model used to redesign the platform. Discovery: After the interview, I used a CSD matrix to identify the key points to discuss with the client. I then mapped the functions of the current platform to recreate the flow in mind map format, which I used to document and facilitate the development of the information architecture. Organization: I documented the entire user journey mapping process in a FigJam file using the service blueprint as a tool. This transparent model gave clients access to the entire process, allowing them to discover and build a user-focused digital product. Design: After studying consistent colors, defining the information architecture and style guide, I divided the platform’s design deliverables into profile creation modules: User, Content Creator, Manager and Administrator. In addition, I designed a product landing page for potential future marketing campaigns. The project was then developed internally by the client.
